Excursion – Mount Etna

Mount Etna………..
The locals lovingly call it “Mongibello,” and at around 10,826 ft (3300 meters), it’s the tallest and most active volcano in Europe!
Excursions to Mount Etna

Mount Etna was formed around 600,000 years ago on the eastern coast of Sicily, in a place where a bay stretched far inland and where the first undersea volcanic activities occurred around a million years ago. Locally, Mount Etna is also referred to as “Mongibello,” from the Latin “mons” (“monte” in Italian) and the Arabic “djebel,” both of which simply mean “mountain.”
An excursion to Mount Etna is one of particular fascination. The height and unbelievable expanse of this volcano are incredible and display the power of nature, while the fertile soil of the region is an important basis for the production of Etna wines and various fruits. During the excursion, educated geologists will accompany you who can explain the formation and phenomena of the volcano in detail with their specialized knowledge. In addition, you will also get to know the typical Sicilian culinary specialties of the Etna region.

We will go on a hike around Mount Sartorious (a crater), surrounded by rich areas specific to the region and white birch gardens.
The gorges of Alcantara, with their high mountain facades of geometric perfection found nowhere else, have attracted guests from around the world. They developed after a lava flow crossed into an ice-cold river of the same name. Access to or bathing in the river is only possible in summer.
