Heading south, the Ionian coast offers one of the most stunning scenarios of the area:
The lovely little town of Aci Trezza, just a few kilometres from the port of Catania.
Eight legendary “Faraglioni”, huge basaltic rocks towering in the middle of the sea, right in front of the village: they’re called “The Cyclops’ islands”.
The Greek mythology says they were thrown in the sea by Polyphemus while chasing after Odysseus.
