It’s as if spring will never leave.

Taormina is like an evergreen, ever-blossoming garden with almond trees, maritime pines, orange and lemon trees and cactus perfuming the pleasant, idyllic atmosphere.

Located “between earth and sky”, on a natural terrace upon Mount Tauro, this elegant hamlet is graced with an outstanding panorama over the Ionian coast and up until the majestic Mount Etna and Peloritani Mountains in the background.

Such an enchanting setting has fascinated not only common tourists but also great writers and artists (Goethe, De Maupassant, Dumas to name a few) as the town was one of the most important stop-overs during the 19th-Century “Grand Tour”.

Firstly thanks to its beautiful sceneries and “dolce vita” atmosphere Taormina has become one of the most exclusive destinations in Sicily.

The town is graced with a really pleasant mild climate and its position made it a key stronghold for ancient conquerors, especially during the Greek period.

The most remarkable evidence of the splendour and magnificence of Taormina during the ancient times is its theatre indeed – the second most important theatre in Sicily.

The first being that of Syracuse, probably built by the Greeks and then modified by the Romans.

The scene of the theatre has one of the most astonishing backgrounds ever.

The stunning panorama over the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna is probably the most beautiful feature of this ancient work of art, which still houses nowadays plays and shows.

The international Taormina Film Festival (autograph hunters will be happy to know that some of the most famous international movie stars take part in this glamorous event every year).

The little hamlet is elegant and lovely. Refined palaces with blossoming balconies are located at the sides of narrow winding streets going up and down the hill.

Their staircases studded with pretty tables of cafés and bars as well as with souvenirs and antique items.

The charming Piazza IX Aprile is the perfect place to enjoy a taste of local mulberry “granita”, one of the most appreciated flavours of this corner of Sicily.

The town has a lot to offer when it comes to clubs, classy restaurants and glittering night life.

The best way to appreciate the enchanting and luxurious atmosphere of Taormina is to take the cable-way set at the foot of Mount Tauro and then walk through the fascinating streets of the hamlet.

Stopping from time to time to enjoy one of the many breath-taking panoramic viewpoints or to admire some of the most interesting monuments of the village.

From Gothic Palazzo Corvaja to the Cathedral, from the cloister of San Domenico to the Villa Comunale and much more.

Taormina, a charming hamlet in Sicily, offers something for every type of traveler.

If you’re a beach lover, you’ll be delighted to know that Taormina boasts some of the most picturesque seaside locations in Sicily, including the famous Isola Bella beach.

This beach, located below Mt. Tauro, features a small island covered in lush vegetation and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.

If you’re looking for other sandy beaches nearby, Letojanni and Giardini Naxos are also worth a visit.

For those seeking a more adventurous excursion, a trip to Castelmola is a must.

This ancient village perched on a mountaintop offers breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea, Peloritani Mountains, and Etna Volcano.

And while you’re there, be sure to try the famous local almond wine, invented by a friar in Castelmola centuries ago. Sipping a glass of this delicacy on the main square while taking in the stunning panorama is an experience not to be missed.
